Climb SEA (climbsea.com) is an independent guide to climbing gyms and competitions in South East Asia. It's run by one person based in Bangkok, Thailand, not by a company. In this policy, "Climb SEA", "we" and "us" mean that person, who decides how your personal data is used.
This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, who we share it with and what you can do about it. For questions, requests, or our full contact details when you exercise your data rights, email hello@climbsea.com.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to understand how the site is used: which pages people visit, which country and city pages are popular, and which gym and comp links get clicked. Google Analytics records:
We use this to decide what to improve and to show gyms how many visitors we send them (as totals, never individual visitors).
Your choice. Outside the EU, the UK and Switzerland, analytics is on unless you reject it. In the EU, the UK and Switzerland, it's off unless you accept. Either way, you can change your choice at any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page.
When analytics is off, Google Analytics sets no cookies on your device. Google may still receive basic signals without cookies (Google's "consent mode"), which include technical details such as your browser and IP address. Google says it uses these only to estimate overall visit numbers, not to identify you.
Maps. Gym maps load map tiles from OpenFreeMap and map code from unpkg.com. Like any website your browser fetches files from, these services receive your IP address and browser details. They set no cookies.
Hosting. The site is hosted on Wix, which processes your IP address and request details to deliver pages and keep the site secure.
We collect your email address, the cities you pick, the page you signed up on and your consent. We store this in our site database and in Wix's contact list, labelled with your chosen cities, so we can send you updates about gyms and comps in those cities.
We only email you about Climb SEA. Every email will have an unsubscribe link, or you can email us.
We collect what you write (the gym, correction, comp or feedback), the page you came from and, if you choose to give them, your name and email address. We use your email only to reply or ask about your suggestion.
We collect your name, email address, role (for example owner, manager or organiser), the corrections you send, any photos you upload and the photo credit you give. If you upload photos, we also keep a record of the licence you accepted (its wording, version and date), because we need to show we have permission to use them.
We remove location (GPS) data from photos in your browser before they're uploaded.
Your name and email are required so we can check that the update is genuine and contact you about it. Without them we can't accept the update.
The listing details and the photos (with the credit you give) are published on the site. Your name, email and role are never published.
To stop spam, our server checks how many forms are sent from the same IP address in an hour. This check is held in temporary memory and isn't stored.

We don't sell or rent personal data. We use these services to run the site, and they process data on our behalf:
| Service | What for | Data |
|---|---|---|
| Wix (Wix.com Ltd.) | Website hosting, site database, contact list, photo storage | Everything you send through forms; technical request data |
| Google (Google Analytics, Tag Manager) | Visit statistics | Analytics data described above, unless analytics is off |
| OpenFreeMap, unpkg.com | Map tiles and map code | IP address and browser details |
These services may process data outside Thailand, including in the United States and the European Union. Where they do, they protect it under contractual safeguards in their data processing terms.
Links to gym websites, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, LINE, ClassPass and Google Maps take you to those services, which have their own privacy policies. We add "utm" tags to some outgoing links so a gym can see the visit came from Climb SEA; these tags contain no personal data.
